Dr. Bridget McCoy is a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in adult and forensic psychiatry. She received her medical degree at Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Illinois. She completed her Psychiatry Residency and Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York.

Dr. McCoy has trained and practiced in a variety of settings and geographic locations. Upon completing her training she relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico to serve as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of New Mexico. While there, she played a key role in the development of the University’s post-doctoral program in forensic psychology and provided supervision to the post-doctoral students.

Through her position with the University, Dr. McCoy was given the opportunity to collaborate with local and state systems in an effort to improve forensic services in the state. In that role, she worked with the Albuquerque Police Department on crisis interventions and case analysis, and served on their Mental Health Response Advisory Committee. Dr. McCoy provided consultation to the state of New Mexico in matters related to forensic systems and standardization of competence to stand trial evaluations. Following her role at the University she worked as a staff psychiatrist at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center where she gained further correctional facility experience.

To continue advancing her forensic work, she took a position at St. Louis University as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and member of the Division of Forensic Psychiatry, where she provided lectures and supervision for forensic fellows.

She currently maintains a private forensic psychiatry consultation practice and provides clinical services at St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center, a minimum-security Missouri State hospital. She is an active member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law and the American Psychiatric Association.
